I am still reeling — in the very best way possible — from the incredible surprise you pulled off on Sunday, April 6th.
To say I was shocked would be a wild understatement.
I was completely blindsided — in the most loving, joy-filled, grace-saturated way. From the beautifully compiled video of friends and ministry partners from across the country (cue the tears and laughter!) to the "spot-on" Frank Sinatra impersonator (he really did do it “My Way,” didn’t he?), and to the extraordinarily generous gift allowing Julie and me to fly to Spain to see our son Joshua — I was, and still am, utterly overwhelmed.
You reached into the past ten years of my life and ministry and created a mosaic that reminded me of the sacred, hilarious, tear-filled, faith-deepening, and joy-infused journey we've walked together. Thank you for holding up a mirror that reflected not just moments and memories but the love and faithfulness of God lived out in community.
I am humbled. I am grateful. I am hopeful.
God’s work in and through MVPC is far from finished. With laughter as our soundtrack and faith as our compass, I’m filled with anticipation about the next chapter we will write together. From baptisms to beach retreats, from potlucks to preaching, from handshakes to holy moments — I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Thank you for the unforgettable day, the love behind every detail, and for the privilege of serving as your pastor.
Here’s to the years ahead!
With a heart full of gratitude,
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
