I heard someone singing “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” this week.

We all know how it goes…

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year

[Refrain]
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

This is all very well and good!
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we bring good tidings to you and all your relatives. And for good measure, one more time we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

But, what do the following verses say?

The next three verses sing the high praises of “figgy pudding” and how you better bring us some figgy pudding because we all like figgy pudding and you better bring it right now!

What in the world is “figgy pudding” and why do I want some while wishing people a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year?

As I looked up the recipe for “Figgy Pudding” the ingredients looked like I was making a “Fruit Cake!”

I love Fruit Cake and I just might be the only one reading this message who does.

There is nothing better than a “Claxton Fruit Cake” from Claxton, Georgia sitting on the counter, beckoning my name and presence to slice a piece and take in the sweet aroma of candied fruit and the delicious taste of such fruit surrounded by some kind of bread like texture!

A slice a night is just the right dose to properly observe the Advent calendar and season!

Lest I digress…

Bottomline, thought for the day is…

What can I bring you, better yet, what can God bring you this Christmas that you would like, can’t do without and you need it right now?

Is it peace of heart and mind?
Is it quiet from the chaos?
Is it the family coming together with joy on their faces and kindness in their hearts?
Is it better health?

What is it that you long for, yearn for, and desire this Christmas?

Put it on your list, check it twice, and who knows?, maybe, just maybe God will bring it your way and wouldn’t that be nice?

Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
