Thursday’s Thoughts…
This Sunday we take a deep dive into the story of Jesus healing the apostle Peter’s mother-in-law.
The story is found in Matthew 8: 14-15.
In fact, here it is for you to read…
And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.
Thank you for reading this passage…
Jesus has come down from Mt. Beatitude after preaching the Sermon on the Mount. On his way to Capernaum he encounters a leper who says to Jesus, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”
Jesus proclaims, “I will. Be clean!”
After Jesus heals the leper, he next encounters a Roman Centurion who says, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” Jesus responds, “I will come and heal him.” The Centurion goes on to basically say, “Just say the word, and I know my servant will be healed from a distance.” Jesus says “the word” and the servant is instantly healed. What a spectacle that must have been when the Centurion returned home later that day!
Next up, Jesus arrives at Peter’s home. Here’s Matthew’s account:
And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.
Now, you have read it twice! Woohoo!
What differences do you notice between the three healings?
There is a significant difference in each encounter…
See you Sunday at MVPC and we will discuss and discover these major differences!
Have a blessed Thursday!
Grace and peace,
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
